Cobot welding for shops that cannot hire welders

Welding automation is usually bought because the welders are not out there to hire. It works well on repeat weldments in batches, and poorly on one-off repair work.

What the cell looks like

A cobot welding package is an arm, a welding power source integrated to it, a torch, a welding table, and fixturing. The fixturing is where the project actually lives. A robot repeats a path precisely, so the part has to land in the same place every time, which means fixtures rather than tack and eyeball. You also need fume extraction and arc screens. None of that is exotic, but all of it is budget that people forget when they price the arm.

Welding automation rarely pays back on labor savings alone, because you were not able to hire the labor in the first place. The real return is throughput you could not otherwise take, and consistency that reduces rework. Work the math on the orders you are turning down or delivering late, not on a headcount you never filled.

Every figure on this page is a planning range, not a quote. We publish ranges because a fixed number before an engineer has walked your floor is a guess wearing a suit. A certified integrator produces the fixed-price quote, and that is the number that holds up.
