Is my job automatable? Seven questions, one honest read

The questions an applications engineer asks in the first five minutes, scored the way the guides on this site score them. You get a read, the reasons behind it, and a summary you can hand to Joe with one click. It is a read, not a verdict: the verdict comes from an integrator with your part in hand.

Which job is closest?

How often does the job repeat?

What moves, and how heavy is it?

How is it done today?

How consistent is the part or product?

How much floor space is near the station?

Who would own the robot?

Peak rate at the busiest hour?

Answer the seven questions and the read appears here.

Then run the payback math

How the scoring works

Repeatability carries the most weight, because re-teaching is the cost that quietly kills small-shop automation. A named owner is next, because the cell that nobody owns gathers dust. Weight and peak rate sort the job into a collaborative or an industrial class rather than deciding yes or no. Variability and floor space move the budget more than the answer. The thresholds mirror the disqualifier lists in the ten application guides.
