Robotic case packing for hand-packed lines
Hand packing lines with a few people on them are a natural fit for a cell, as long as your product formats are stable and your upstream flow is consistent.

What the cell looks like
A collaborative case packing cell picks product from an infeed and places it into cases in a pattern. Around it sit adjacent machines you may or may not already own: case erectors and case sealers. If the product varies, vision joins the cell. The most common misjudgment here is treating a packing cell as a drop-in when the real project includes erecting, sealing, and keeping the infeed consistent.
What it costs and what it saves
Illustrative, and it excludes case erectors and sealers if you do not already have them, which can add meaningfully.
Packing lines are usually justified on the labor of two or more positions plus surge staffing you no longer need to find. Because several people are involved, the labor side of the math is often stronger than palletizing. The offsetting risk is that packing cells touch more of the line, so integration is a bigger share of the project.
Every figure on this page is a planning range, not a quote. We publish ranges because a fixed number before an engineer has walked your floor is a guess wearing a suit. A certified integrator produces the fixed-price quote, and that is the number that holds up.
When this is the wrong answer
Read this part first
We would rather talk you out of a bad purchase than into one. If any of these describe you, the honest answer is probably not yet.
- Your product is fragile or highly variable and the budget will not carry vision and custom tooling.
- Your rates belong to a full packaging line rather than a cell. Past a certain speed this stops being a robot conversation.
- Upstream flow is inconsistent, so the cell would starve and surge. Fix the flow first.
- Your formats change constantly and no two runs pack the same way.
What an engineer has to verify
This is the checklist that keeps every number above a range. None of it can be settled from a website, and all of it gets settled before anyone quotes.
- Product dimensions and how much they vary within and between runs.
- Case formats and how many the cell must handle.
- Upstream flow consistency, measured over a real shift.
- Integration points with existing erectors, sealers, and conveyors.
- Whether the pattern requires orientation control the infeed does not currently provide.
